The Azzurri prepare for their third match in League A Group 1 of the Nations League and Verratti admitted the players are going through ‘a complicated moment’ ahead of the match against Poland in Gdansk.
“It’s a complicated moment for everyone, for us players but also for everyone in the world,” Verratti said at a press conference. “We are lucky, we are checked often and can immediately understand when there’s a problem.
“It’s a difficult period but we must go on, we must give a smile to the people who can’t come to the stadium.”
The former Pescara player, capped 00 times by Italy, said he’s ‘happy’ to have competition in the middle of the pitch and praised Manuel Locatelli for his performance in the 6-0 win against Moldova.
“I was talking about it with [Alessandro] Florenzi. There’s many to choose from and this is very important,” Verratti added.
“It’s a decisive department and I’m happy about it. We are Italy, Locatelli played an incredible game and we are really happy about this."
