Marco Verratti warned Italy have to improve their finishing because “we can’t always get lucky with the result.”
The Azzurri squeezed past Malta and Bulgaria with 1-0 scorelines, despite dominating the Euro 2016 qualifiers.
“These were two important games and the results were what really mattered. Now we are top of the group and qualification depends only on us,” the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder told Rai Sport.

“These were two important games and the results were what really mattered. Now we are top of the group and qualification depends only on us,” the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder told Rai Sport.
“We could’ve finished off the game with many more goals tonight and it’s something we have to improve, as we can’t always get lucky with the result.”
Verratti started in midfield with Andrea Pirlo against Malta, then partnered Daniele De Rossi in the Bulgaria match.
“De Rossi and Pirlo are two great champions, have different characteristics, and I am happy playing alongside both.
“I perhaps played a little better tonight, but that’s because Bulgaria gave us more space than Malta did.”
