Qatari side Al-Arabi is closing in on a deal for Marco Verratti and are hoping to welcome the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder in the coming days.

The 30-year-old Italian, who has been with the Parisian giants since the summer of 2012, has been frozen out of the squad in the French capital by new coach Luis Enrique.

An oft-frustrating figure, there are no doubts about Verratti’s talent but the midfielder’s injury record and perceived lack of professionalism have started to have an impact on his career in recent years.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Al-Arabi are looking to finalise the arrival of Verratti in Qatar next week, having already agreed a deal with PSG worth around €45-50m.

The 30-year-old has still not agreed personal terms with the Qatari side yet but things are moving forward positively and the club are hoping to finalise proceedings in the coming days.

Verratti was part of the Italy squad for the Nations League Final Four stage back in June but was not called up by Luciano Spalletti for the Azzurri’s coming Euro 2024 qualifiers against North Macedonia and Ukraine.
