There are 10 changes from the XI that beat Greece 2-0 on Saturday, as only Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Verratti remains.

He also inherits the captain’s armband from Leonardo Bonucci, as he is the most-capped player in this side with 35 previous games.

He is followed by Andrea Belotti on 25, Federico Bernardeschi and goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu on 22 each.

It is the absolute debut for Napoli right-back Giovanni Di Lorenzo, while Vincenzo Grifo makes his first start, having only appeared as a substitute in the 1-0 friendly win over USA in November 2018.

This is Bryan Cristante’s third start, but he hasn’t featured since the 1-0 Nations League defeat to Portugal on September 10, 2018.

Zaniolo has never started a senior match for Italy, managing three substitute appearances, the biggest for 33 minutes against Liechtenstein in March 2019.

Italy: Sirigu (22); Di Lorenzo (0), G Mancini (2), Romagnoli (10), Biraghi (5); Zaniolo (3), Cristante (6), Verratti (35); Bernardeschi (22), Belotti (25), Grifo (1)
