Former Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu claims “keeping Marco Verratti without the right motivation would be like killing football.”

Verratti has been heavily linked with Barcelona in recent weeks, and Sirigu believes PSG must not keep his ex-teammate against his will.

“My advice for Verratti? It’s a decision that must be his, it really depends on what he wants to do,” the Torino goalkeeper told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“My advice for Verratti? It’s a decision that must be his, it really depends on what he wants to do,” the Torino goalkeeper told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“If he’s sure that he no longer wants to stay because he doesn’t have the right motivations, the directors must take this into account.

“There are a few irreplaceable players and Marco’s one of them, in addition to being an asset to football.

“Keeping him without the right motivation would be like killing football.”
