Italy international Marco Verratti has won the praise of Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc.

Blanc inherited the midfielder after taking over from Carlo Ancelotti in the summer and the Frenchman is excited by the 20-year-old’s potential.

“Marco is a natural-born player and he shows that,” Blanc noted after the 3-0 Champions League win over Benfica.

“When he has the ball he rarely loses it and he can dictate the play.

“Verratti is very good, he gives a lot of consistency and confidence to the team, while you can't forget Thiago Motta either.

“He and Blaise Matuidi have a big role to play. They put Marco in a position where he can start the moves, build the play, and that is the best way to use him.”

Verratti, now in his second season in France, has started in seven of Blanc’s 10 games in charge so far.
