Adrien Rabiot’s mother and agent Veronique does not want to think about a new contract with Juventus until ‘the right moment’ and praised her work on the deal in the summer.

The 28-year-old Frenchman was one of the best players in Massimiliano Allegri’s squad last season and looked set to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season. With just a few days left on his contract, he penned a new one-year deal worth around €8m net per season.

Rabiot has continued to perform well for Juventus this season and the club are keen to tie him down to a long-term deal, but it’s likely that the events surrounding his last deal will be repeated again in the coming months.

Speaking to SportWeek via TMW, Veronique Rabiot first commented on the idea of signing a new contract with Juventus.

“It’s too early to talk about it. At the right moment we will weigh everything up and, in the end, Adrien will decide as always.”

The midfielder’s mother and agent then spoke about the one-year deal that was agreed in June.

“It was my idea. At first the club didn’t agree, but I got an extra year with a substantial increase. It is an innovative renewal.”

She also reflected on his initial move to Juventus on a free transfer back in the summer of 2019.

“Juventus considered him the first choice, they had been chasing us for years, literally, I found Bianconeri representatives where I least expected it, outside stadiums, in the stands.

“Allegri really wanted him and with Federico Cherubini there is a very cordial and professional relationship.”
