According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the FIGC Sporting Judge has closed Verona‘s Curva for a game following a shocking anti-Napoli banner unveiled before their Serie A match on Sunday.

The banner featured the flags of Russia and Ukraine and the coordinates of the city of Naples, clearly suggesting that it should be the next target of Russian aggression. It has caused outrage in Italy and investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible for the shameful banner.

Meantime, Verona ultras won’t be allowed to watch their next home game from the Curva, which will remain closed in their next Serie A match against Genoa on April 3. Igor Tudor’s side will return to action next weekend, visiting Empoli at the Stadio Castellani.

  1. lol yeah, a one game closure of the Curva, not even the stadium, will prevent stuff like this. Relegate Verona to Serie C where the belong and their ultras will get the message.

  2. Relegate the Ultras. It is insane that a bunch of thugs control Italian Calcio. Make it a better environment for the fans. That will increase revenue. And build better stadiums. There are plenty in Italy I would never bring my family to. Italy needs to reform.

  3. It’s not an ultra problem, it’s an Italian problem. There is a lot of racism in Italy and banning or punishing ultras will only do so much. I mean, there is a major political party whose platform is basically to split off the north from the south because they claim southern Italians are “lesser” than northern Italians.

  4. Verona still thins its 1938 and the ultras think they live in Austria.
The city has an inferiority complex because there not Florence or Milan or Bergamo or Turin or Naples
Shakespeare made them famous and the Romans built the Amphitheatre, they were the KIngs of Serie B
    and should be relegated again.
P.S. Where would u like to spend your summer?
The Amalfi coast or Juliet’s Balcony

  5. @gee, sadly there are so many of low intellect who think like you, hence we lack peace and tolerance in the world.
