The Giallorossi are heavy favourites in these Verona vs. Roma predictions but anything can happen in another round of Serie A action. Jose Mourinho’s side sit 13 league places higher than their Monday hosts but will have to be wary of complacency.

Verona vs. Roma odds

1 – Roma to win – 7/8

2 – Roma to score in both halves – 15/8

3 – Roma to score over 1.5 goals – 9/10

4 – Roma to keep a clean sheet – 8/5

5 – Tammy Abraham to score anytime – 13/8

Roma hope to bounce back following last weekend’s defeat to Napoli as they travel to face Verona on Monday evening. The Giallorossi’s packed schedule has done them few favours with the squad already looking stretched but the visitors should have enough in the tanks to earn all three points on Matchday 12.

The result at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi could end up being more down to the poor form of the hosts than the talents of the visitors though. Verona have been in shocking form this season and sit justifiably second from bottom of the Serie A table.

Under previous manager Gabriele Cioffi, the Gialloblu managed just one win whilst new boss Salvatore Bocchetti is yet to win a game. As a result, it is hard to see anything other than a Roma win on Monday.

Another factor that may well work into the hands of Roma is that their hosts have a defensive record to match their poor points tally this season. Verona have conceded 20 goals, averaging just under two per game. Given Roma’s poor form in front of goal in recent weeks, Monday could well be an opportunity to boost confidence, with Tammy Abraham desperate to score after a barren run. The Roma forward is our nod to break his Serie A duck this week.

Punters could well look to Verona’s recent results, which have seen the Gialloblu concede two goals for their last six matches. A bet on Roma to score over 1.5 goals is therefore backed by the stats, whilst a wager on the visitors to score in both halves could also pay off.

This having been said, it is not Roma’s offensive form that has secured their top-five status, but their defensive record. Unsurprisingly, Mourinho has one of the best defences in the league – and one that should be able to keep a clean sheet against a Verona team that is only scoring every other game.

Verona team news

Salvatore Bocchetti is unlikely to make many significant changes as he looks to settle on a starting eleven. Options are limited for the coach, with Ivan Ilic likely to miss out through injury whilst Darko Lazovic, Ajdin Hrustic and Diego Coppola all remain sidelined.

Roma team news

Roma’s Europa League commitments mean Jose Mourinho will have been able to rely on his full squad this week. Roger Ibañez picked up an injury in Helsinki and joins the likes of Paolo Dybala, Zeki Celik and Giorginio Wijnaldum on the injury list. Mady Camara has impressed in recent weeks and may start again on Monday.
