These Verona vs. Genoa predictions see Igor Tudor’s men in search of their first win in four games against a resolute Rossoblu side. Despite being second from bottom in Serie A, the Grifone are currently on the fourth-best unbeaten run in the league, stretching back to January 17.

Verona vs. Genoa odds

1 – A draw at full-time 12/5

2 – Over 2.5 goals scored – 7/9

3 – Giovanni Simeone to score first – 9/2

4 – Mattia Destro to score anytime – 29/10

5 – Genoa to keep a clean sheet – 4/1

The Serie A relegation battle continues on Monday as 19th-placed Genoa travel to face mid-table Verona. Since replacing head coach Andriy Shevchenko with Alexander Blessin, the Grifone have gone on an unbeaten run of eight games, reigniting their hopes of avoiding relegation.

Three points for the visitors on Monday could see them jump out of the relegation zone, however, the Rossoblu have struggled to turn draws into wins under their new boss, doing so for the first time against Torino before the international break. Instead, Genoa have more draws than any other side in Serie A with 16, with a punt on another tie this week potentially paying dividends.

For Verona, a draw has been a far rarer occurrence this season, with an impressive front three managing to secure 11 wins for the Gialloblu. In fact, despite sitting mid table, Ivan Tudor has the fourth most effective front line in the league, having scored 55 goals after 30 games at an average of just over 1.8 per match. Given the hosts’ impressive goalscoring form, and the fact that the reverse fixture ended 3-3, it should be a safe bet to assume that Monday evening’s clash ends with over 2.5 goals scored.

Both strike forces impressed in the September meeting at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, but as expected it was Giovanni Simeone who opened the scoring. El Cholito is having the best goalscoring season of his career, having already notched 15 goals in Serie A. Sitting third in the capocannonieri charts, the forward can at times blow hot and cold, but remains favourite to score first against Genoa.

At the other end of the pitch, Mattia Destro has remained a key player for the Grifone. The Italian forward may not have the star quality of his Uruguayan counterpart, but his nine goals for the Rossoblu have been vital this season. It was a late brace from Destro that secured a point for Genoa in their match against the Gialloblu, one of which being a solo effort while holding a water bottle. It could be worth a bet on the forward to add to his four-goal tally against the hosts.

In spite of Verona’s impressive defensive stats, Genoa have improved defensively under Alexander Blessin. Over the last eight games, the Grifone have achieved six clean sheets, including against the offensive might of Atalanta, Inter and Roma. Having kept three of Serie A’s top six at bay, a bet on the visitors to extend their goalless run against Verona could be worthwhile.

Verona vs. Genoa line-ups

Verona (3-4-1-2): Montipo; Coppola, Gunter, Casale; Sutalo, Bessa, Ilic, Tameze; Barak; Simeone, Caprari.

Genoa (4-2-3-1): Sirigu; Frendrug, Maksimovic, Bani, Vasquez; Sturaro, Badelj; Melegoni, Amiri, Portanova; Destro.

Verona team news

Kevin Lasagna continues to miss out for Verona, meaning Gianluca Caprari will retain his role up front. Tudor will be able to welcome back Ivan Ilic from suspension, but Federico Ceccherini and Marco Faraoni have one game left to serve. This will see Bosko Sutalo and Nicolo Casale come in at right-wing-back and centre-back respectively. Having scored off the bench against Empoli, Matteo Cancellieri may hope to play a bigger role on Monday.

Genoa team news

Alexander Blessin is without Leo Ostigard as the January signing was sent off in the win over Torino, while Zinho Vandheusden misses out through injury. This should see Mattia Bani partner Nikola Maksimovic at centre-back, while Johan Vasquez will continue to deputise for Domenico Criscito at left-back.
