Another Italian player is heading towards Turkey, as Sky Sport Italia claim Riccardo Saponara will leave Verona for MKE Akaragucu.

This will be the latest sale from Hellas Verona in the January transfer window.

Saponara turned 32 in December and his contract with Verona is due to expire at the end of the season.

He will therefore be sold for a minimal fee, ready to put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal in Turkey.

There are already some familiar faces in the Ankaragucu squad, such as former Verona defender Mert Cetin, Italian ex-Manchester United striker Federico Macheda and one-time Chievo forward Ali Sowe.

Attacking winger Saponara is well-travelled, representing the likes of Milan, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, Lecce and Genoa before joining Verona as a free agent in July 2023.

He made 14 appearances for Hellas this season between Serie A and the Coppa Italia, failing to contribute to a goal.

Saponara made 225 Serie A appearances, scoring 29 goals and providing 36 assists.
