Livorno claim they have a deal for Inter striker Samuele Longo, but Hellas Verona are reportedly intercepting the move.
Longo is returning to base after a loan spell at Espanyol and eager to remain in Serie A with some regular first team football.
Verona had been the early favourites to take him on loan, until on Saturday Livorno President Aldo Spinelli announced he was on the verge of making a move.
“We have the word of Inter, Longo and his agent,” Spinelli told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
However, newspaper L’Arena maintains Verona have dived back into the race with a last-ditch bid for the Under-21 international.
It now remains to be seen where Longo will be playing his football next season, as the two newly-promoted clubs do battle.
