However, Il Tempo are leading the way in suggesting an agreement may be reached with Verona.

It is believed that the Gialloblu have agreed terms with Roma to take the 27-year-old on an initial free loan through to the summer.

On from that, Andrea Mandorlini’s side will have a purchase option of €1.8m available to them, to take on 50 per cent of the midfielder’s contract.

Verona have been in the market for a midfielder since selling Marquinho’s compatriot Jorginho to Napoli last week.
