Serie A new boys Verona are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Leeds United goalkeeper Marco Silvestri.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio’s official website, all that is left is for both clubs to decide whether Silvestri will join Verona on a permanent transfer or loan arrangement.
The 26-year-old was one of several Italians that moved to Leeds in 2014 as part of Massimo Cellino’s takeover and enjoyed first-choice status in his first two seasons at the club.

However, he was pushed down the pecking order last term due to the arrival of ex-England shot-stopper Rob Green and now faces more competition following the recent capture of Felix Wiedwald.
Prior to the English side, Silvestri had played for Reggiana, Padova and Cagliari, while appearing intermittently for Italy’s Under-20 and U21 sides.
Another Italian, defender Giuseppe Bellusci, departed Elland Road earlier on Tuesday.
