The Stadio Olimpico doors are closed this evening, but the ultras aggregated in their hundreds at the training grounds of both Roma and Lazio this evening.

“We know that the fans are always with us and seeing them at the Trigoria training ground was lovely. We are playing for them too,” Veretout told Roma TV.

“It’s an unusual game, but at the end of the day, it’s still worth three points. We have to win for us, for the club and for the supporters, who are always by our side.

“We trained all week focused on tactics, but the coach was waiting for just before kick-off to make his team talk.”

Roma have shown a tendency to fumble leads this season, particularly in the final stages.

“We worked on that, discussed it and know that we mustn’t start to sit deeper once we take the lead. We have to continue playing our game, because when we do that, we cause problems for any opponent.”
