Jordan Veretout says Roma wanted to make up for their defeat against Juventus last week and insists the team’s victory is more important than his brace.

The Giallorossi beat Udinese 3-0 at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday with the French midfielder who netted two goals in the first half.

“We wanted to recover after losing against Juventus,” Veretout told DAZN.

“We won, we are still there and we must continue to work like this. It was a good game today.

“I scored my first header goal, the coach wants me to run into open spaces, it was a nice goal too, but the three points are the most important thing,” he continued.

Fonseca spoke to the 27-year-old after replacing him in the second half. But what did the coach tell him?

“We have a target and he told me something I must achieve this season. I am almost there, but the most important thing is the victory, we must continue to work as we did today.”

What’s the target?

“It’s between me and him, if I’ll reach it, I’ll tell you.”

It was Fonseca, however, who explained his bet with the French midfielder saying: “At the start of the season I said he needed to score at least 10 goals. He’s on nine now, so we joked about that when he came off.
