“It’s going to exciting, we will try to win this game for our fans and our coach,” Veretout told Telefoot.

“Our fans give so much love to this club, it’s marvellous, and all we can do is try to repay them for that.”

The Giallorossi are feeling even more enthusiastic since Mourinho arrived, winning all but one of their games between Serie A and the Europa Conference League.

“He has something extra. We truly feel that he is behind us, that he wants us to do well. It’s up to us to follow his orders and go as far as possible. We’ve got the squad to achieve something wonderful here.

“I came to Roma in order to win a Scudetto or another wonderful trophy.”

Veretout finally made his senior debut for France earlier this month and is still buzzing from the experience.

“People kept telling me, you’re 28 years old, and I replied that as long as I am a football player, I will want to wear that jersey. When you wear it once, you want to get back as soon as possible.”
