Tuttosport newspaper analyses Inter’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, praising, among others, Marcus Thuram, Yann Sommer, and Yann-Aurel Bisseck. However, Denzel Dumfries, Matteo Darmian, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan were not entirely convincing.
Inter secured a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday in the last game before their 2024-25 Serie A debut against Genoa on Saturday.
Thuram found the net in the first half and was among the players receiving praise from Tuttosport newspaper on Monday.
Journalist Alessia Scurati wrote on page 28 that the Frenchman put in a convincing performance although he’ll need to be even more in shape against Genoa on Saturday to score more goals.
According to Tuttosport, Bisseck was probably the most convincing Inter player against Chelsea. The German defender contributed to Thuram’s goal and showed “leadership” skills in defence.
It is still too early for player ratings as games are not competitive yet, but Sommer, Joaquin Correa, and Italy internationals Federico Dimarco and Nicolò Barella were mentioned among the best Inter players on Sunday.
On the other hand, four of their teammates were not entirely convincing. Denzel Dumfries and Matteo Darmian on the right flank, and Mkhitaryan and Kristjan Asllani are in the middle of the park.
As for Mkhitaryan, Tuttosport argued that Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez made the Armenian star struggle at times, while Asllani was probably still unfit after a slight injury that had forced him to the sidelines against Pisa a few weeks ago.
