Serie B side Salernitana have reportedly lined up former Italy CT Giampiero Ventura to take the reins.

The 71-year-old quit Chievo just four games into his tenure earlier in the season, in what was his first role since failing to lead Italy to the 2018 World Cup.

According to Sport Mediaset, the Campanian side are looking to bounce back from a poor season and could turn to the ex-Torino Coach to lead them into Serie A.

However, the Granata could yet start next season in the third tier if relegated Foggia win their appeal for a playout.

Lazio President Claudio Lotito also owns Salernitana and is described as having an ‘excellent’ relationship with Ventura, given he tried to bring him to the Biancocelesti before he accepted the Azzurri’s offer of employment in 2016.

Frosinone boss Marco Baroni and former Genoa tactician Ivan Juric have also been linked with the role.
