Bruno Peres and Maxi Lopez got the goals in a 2-1 victory over Atalanta this afternoon.
“Today we controlled the game well, even if we only really played with the kind of determination I like for a portion of the match,” the tactician told Sky Sport Italia.
“Towards the end we clammed up to defend the result and that just brings on further risks. If you don’t sacrifice yourselves, you won’t get a great result.
“Torino must always work to qualify for Europe, so the fact we are in the top half of the table is not enough for this club.
“To do that we need big investments, which are probably beyond us, or great planning and clear-headed choices based on youth who can guarantee a rosy future.
“We had patience with Maxi Lopez and I’m glad Torino waited for him, something other clubs may well not have done. People told us when he arrived that he wouldn’t get into shape, but he worked hard to recover from his fitness issues.
“Ciro Immobile won’t be back in time for the Bologna game, as we don’t need to force him to recover early. We have the players to fill in.”
