Ventura: Toro value Europe

Giampiero Ventura has outlined Torino’s ambition to go as far as they can in the Europa League, for what it means to the club.

The Granata are competing in Europe for the first time in 20 years and tomorrow evening host Copenhagen in the second round of group stage matches.

For Toro’s tactician, interest in the team’s European campaign has placed the onus on them to take it seriously.

“Ever since we began in the preliminary rounds, there has been a great desire and interest,” Ventura has explained to reporters today.

For Toro’s tactician, interest in the team’s European campaign has placed the onus on them to take it seriously.

“Ever since we began in the preliminary rounds, there has been a great desire and interest,” Ventura has explained to reporters today.

“Against Brommapojkarna the stadium was full and it showed how much expectation there was after years of absence from Europe.

“In the Cup we will try to do our best. We do not have a final objective in mind, but to create the conditions to raise the bar even more.

“Tomorrow we face a team that last year was difficult for Juventus in the Champions League.

“If we play as we know how to then the match is within our reach, but we must not make any mistakes.

“We need to further verify what we have done so far and what is still to be done.”

Ventura recently switched back to a three-man defence with Toro.

“We changed formation because the teams we were facing suggested we should. There are other games in which it won’t make sense to make this same selection and others that will lead us to make it again.

“There has been a tactical growth from the whole team and we are able to read different situations and adapt to change.”
