Giampiero Ventura is adamant Torino’s Serie A comeback tonight against Siena will be the start of a new era. “We want to be in the top flight permanently.”
The Granata return to the main stage after their promotion from Serie B, ending a three-season spell in the lower tier.
“We are a side who want to grow and have been working towards this for a year. We want to be in the top flight permanently and create the reputation of a Toro that plays good football,” said the Coach.
“Siena represents the start of a long journey in which we’ll see good and bad moments. We’ll try to learn from the former and correct the latter.
“I think the difficulties we’ll face here will be a sign of what awaits us throughout the campaign. Siena are a great team who achieved safety very early last term and can count on quality players.”
The Granata further strengthened with the arrival of Alessio Cerci from Fiorentina.
“I am happy he’s here, but his technical qualities must be combined with the humility, grit and belief of the squad.”
