Giampiero Ventura slammed talk of his future and trusts Maxi Lopez to shine for “motivated” Torino against Inter.

“There will be a lot of motivation on both sides. We need to pick up as many points as possible for our position in the table and to verify some situations ahead of next season,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Playing at San Siro against the Nerazzurri is certainly a reason to be motivated. We need to learn from what has happened this year and use it to improve in future. Football always teaches you new things and if you think you know it all, then you’re arrogant.

“The campaign isn’t over yet and we need to prove ourselves. Last year we went to San Siro and played them with open and attacking football, so we have to do take the same approach.”

There are other reasons to be motivated for Maxi Lopez, who is facing Mauro Icardi – his former teammate and friend who is now married to his ex-wife.

“Ciro Immobile is out injured, so we have to make do. Maxi was an important player last season and I think he wants to be important now too,” noted Ventura.

“It’s an important opportunity for him to show what he can do and the same goes for Josef Martinez.”

Ventura has been tipped as a potential Italy Coach, while the fans and media seem to believe there’s no chance he’ll still be at Torino next season.

“I never wanted to talk about my future because I consider it daft. I still have two years on my contract, I read of so many Coaches who are supposed to be coming here, but this is football.

“As of today I think I am still the Coach, because I have a contract, an important project and a lot of anger within me to show what we could’ve achieved.

“When I say mistakes were made, I include my own. I am really looking forward to the future.”
