Former Italy CT Giampiero Ventura is reportedly close to agreeing a deal with Chievo.

According to Calciomercato.com, Chievo President Luca Campedelli met Beppe Iachini for lunch on Monday, where the former Sassuolo and Palermo boss was offered a contract until the end of the season.

However, the website warns Iachini is demanding an extra year, paving the way for Ventura, who would be willing to sign on for the campaign, providing Campedelli agrees to making funds available in January.

The 71-year-old has been out of work since failing to take Italy to the World Cup last November but hinted earlier in the day that he had received an offer from the Flying Donkeys.

Chievo, for their part, are expected to sack Lorenzo D’Anna imminently after no wins from their opening eight Serie A games.
