“I used to come here often considering my friendship both with the President and Gigi Del Neri when he was in charge of the Chievo of miracles,” Ventura told the club website.

“I used to come here often considering my friendship both with the President and Gigi Del Neri when he was in charge of the Chievo of miracles,” Ventura told the club website.
“A great deal has changed here and it has become a real home to Chievo, with offices and an important structure. I think this is the future of the club, as having this kind of infrastructure does bring points at the end of the season.
“I was not surprised by Chievo’s excellent start to the campaign, because the basic structure of the team remains the same from last year and so is the Coach. Last term they did really well and have every chance of doing just as well, if not better.
“There is organisation at Chievo and a real work ethic. I compliment Maran for what he is doing and I do not agree with those who say a Coach doesn’t make a big impact, because I’d say Chievo is the perfect example of that.
“There is a lot of Maran in this team and you can tell his influence. At the same time, it’s important to have a club behind you and the President took a long-term view.”
Among the Chievo players who could potentially get a call-up are Riccardo Meggiorini.
“He is not a surprise, as I always considered him a great guy and maintained he deserved more success on the field.”
