Ventura: ‘Lazio the form team’

Giampiero Ventura believes Torino did all they could against “form team Lazio” and looks ahead to Zenit.

The Granata were beaten 2-0 on home turf this evening by a Felipe Anderson brace, their third consecutive defeat in all competition.

“We put in a good performance against the form team in Serie A right now, who after all put four goals past Fiorentina last week,” Ventura told reporters.

The Granata were beaten 2-0 on home turf this evening by a Felipe Anderson brace, their third consecutive defeat in all competition.

“We put in a good performance against the form team in Serie A right now, who after all put four goals past Fiorentina last week,” Ventura told reporters.

“We made three mistakes and conceded two goals. This is Lazio, they have a lot of quality. I remain satisfied, though, as we worked as a team and had chances to equalise when it was 1-0.

“We were also tired, as we’ve played more games than any other side in Italy this season. I want to compliment my team, even if we lost.”

Torino lost the first leg of their Europa League tie 2-0 to Zenit and host the Russians on Thursday evening.

“We can get many players back in shape for that game and hopefully Giuseppe Vives too,” added Ventura.

“It will be a Toro side that wants to fight for the win. We have a negative result to overturn, but that came about mainly because of the early red card.”
