“President Vincenzo Matarrese reiterated his desire to keep me at Bari, but I think I made the right decision.”
Bari are propping up the Serie A table with just 14 points, having won three games and scored 14 goals.
“We started off so well by beating Juventus in the opening round and playing well at Napoli, then in the space of a month we lost eight players to injury.
“Bari are not Juventus, a club that signs Luca Toni when they lose Fabio Quagliarella, then Alessandro Matri when they lose Toni.
“Maybe we also got our approach wrong, as we needed to be more relaxed. I hope that can come with my departure.
“I can only tell my successor Mutti that this side is much stronger than the table would suggest.”
