Torino Coach Giampiero Ventura confirmed “Matteo Darmian will play for Manchester United. It’s a dream for him.”

The full-back is widely expected to complete a €20m move over the next couple of days (€18m plus €2m bonuses) with a medical planned on Friday.

That translates to £12.9m plus £1.4m add-ons.

“Matteo deserves a top team and always dreamed of playing in the Champions League, so now that dream will be realised.”

The Granata have already found a replacement for the Italy international.

It’s reported they’ve secured a €13m deal for both Davide Zappacosta and Daniele Baselli from Atalanta.

“In these four years we’ve gone from Serie B and a great depression to the top flight and the enthusiasm of the Europa League,” continued Ventura.

“We worked with Darmian for many years and it’s only right he should be given the chance to make his Champions League dream come true.

“A sale can happen, the important thing is that we’re able to plan an even stronger squad in future. We’re on the right track and as always the objective is to earn a place in Europe.”
