Ventura was back at former club Torino on Sunday to watch them beat Inter 1-0, and the 70-year-old admitted the experience ‘moved’ him and his wife.

“I was a bit moved, like my wife Luciana. She cried,” he told Tuttosport.

“Entering this stadium was exciting for me, seeing those colours again, which were also mine, those fans, this club, which gave me so much, and then seeing Torino play live…

“I have unforgettable memories of my adventure with them. It left a deep mark on me.

“We gained a lot of satisfaction together and now every time I come back here, I’m happy. It could’ve finished a draw with Inter, but nothing was stolen from Toro in the end.”

Ventura’s reputation is in tatters after failing to take Italy to the World Cup, but will that stop a Serie A club from hiring him?

“Coaching in Serie A again? I can’t wait, we’ll see…” he concluded.
