“Nobody thought we could overturn a poor first leg result against Athletic Bilbao, yet we did that,” Coach Ventura told Mediaset Premium.

“There is everything needed for us to fight it out at the Olimpico. Unfortunately, I was perplexed by the referee this evening. I am not talking so much about the dismissal as the general management of the match.

“Perhaps with a man down for 70 minutes we couldn’t have done better, perhaps we could. With all due respect to Zenit, I think there’s everything still to play for in the second leg.

“We know that we can improve, but what we’ve done this far has been remarkable. Now we’ll watch the game over and work to prepare the next against Lazio.

“This is a growth process for Torino and it’s a shame we weren’t able to really play Zenit with 11 against 11.”
