Italy Coach Giampiero Ventura told Andrea Belotti to “work hard and become the player we all believe he can be,” whether at Torino or elsewhere.

“When we started out, there was a sense of belonging, but not so strong. There is great enthusiasm from everyone and the desire to be a part of the Nazionale, which makes us proud and bodes well for the future,” Ventura told Sky Sport Italia.

The transfer saga of the summer was meant to be Belotti’s future after a €100m Torino release clause, but despite Milan, Chelsea, Manchester United and more showing interest, he seems set to remain.

“Belotti knows full well what the path he needs to follow is in order to become a great protagonist, whether it’s in Italy or abroad. If it’s abroad, it’ll be for a big club, and in Italy Toro are an ambitious side.

“The issue is not where he’s playing, but that he works to become a better player and doesn’t rest on his laurels. That would be good for all of Italian football.

“The biggest step forward for Belotti is that after all the predictions and talk, he worked hard to become the player he is today and will continue working hard to become the player we all believe he can be.”
