Venezia saw their appeal rejected, so they will have to play the Serie A match against Salernitana that had been postponed due to a COVID outbreak on January 6.

This is the latest in a series of appeals that have all ended the same way, as before the new COVID-19 protocol was agreed with the local health authorities, there was still a conflict between the football and medical worlds.

Initially, the Lega Serie A tried to push ahead and insist no games could be postponed amid COVID outbreaks, but the local health authorities ordered entire squads into quarantine.

Salernitana have now won several appeals around their imposed quarantine, so the postponed Serie A matches will have to be rescheduled.

Venezia had hoped to receive an automatic 3-0 victory, but they will now have to play Salernitana in a relegation dogfight.

Salernitana are bottom of the table, but also have two games in hand to be played against Venezia and Udinese.
