Venezia may have been relegated to Serie B, but their English language Twitter account continues to gain fans all over the world.
The Lagunari finished bottom of the Serie A table in the 2021-22 season and therefore dropped straight back down to Serie B just a year on from promotion via the play-offs.
During their season-long stint in the top flight, they still earned new supporters and part of that was down to their social media engagement, as well as their impressive kits.
That is continuing this summer, as a tweet went viral with a somewhat grumpy old man message about their latest branching out into different platforms.
“Sadly, we’re on TikTok now. If you’re like 12, follow us there.”

Venezia also earned many appreciative likes and retweets for responding to a message that hoped they would be taken over by an oil-rich club to boost their prospects.
“Appreciate that this was meant as a compliment (thank you), but if that’s what people have to root for at this stage, then we’ve fully normalized a perverse paradigm shift in modern football.”

Venezia are owned by an American investor, Duncan Niederauer, and was part of the original American group that took the club from bankruptcy and Serie D in 2015 to the top flight.
They also went viral after giving some friendly advice to newly-promoted Premier League club Nottingham Forest.
Pretty cool to see the excitement at Nottingham Forest; feels similar to our situation last summer, two decades in the making.
Friendly advice: There’ll be rough days. It’s easy for raw emotion to take over and suddenly perspective gets lost. Don’t cheat yourself — savor it all.

I don’t agree with Suzy a lot…I find her a bit snarky…but I agree with this 100%. Sorry to see Venezia go down. I will still follow their progress and wish them the best (and a prompt promotion).
