Inter’s game with Venezia this weekend could be postponed after another positive COVID-19 test, taking the total to 15 between players and staff.

The Lagunari announced this morning that 10 new cases had been identified, but this afternoon released another statement adding one more positive test to the list.

The new COVID protocol would allow for the match to be rescheduled if at least nine players are testing positive simultaneously.

It is not yet clear how many of those who tested positive at Venezia are players and how many are members of staff.

Ten more COVID cases at Venezia, Inter game in doubt

So far, the club only stated they are ‘part of the matchday squad,’ which does not narrow it down.

The Serie A COVID protocol given the all-clear this week only takes into account the players who have COVID, not any injuries, suspensions or absences due to international duty.

Members of staff are also not included when calculating the extent of an outbreak.

Salernitana’s upcoming Serie A match with Napoli is also in doubt, as they currently have eight players out with COVID-19, just one shy of the cut-off point.

  1. Amazing how the outbreaks hit teams just when they are about to play Inter. Lets see how sick they are, by asking if they want to forfeit. If not, the game should go ahead.
