Venezia are getting closer to a deal for Oud-Heverlee Leuven striker Thomas Henry worth €6m, beating competition from Genoa.

According to Tuttomercatoweb and Sky Sport Italia, negotiations intensified over the last few hours and they are ready to strike an agreement.

It’ll be a fee of €6m plus bonuses, with Belgian side Oud-Heverlee Leuven also given a cut of any future transfer profit.

The forward can then sign a four-year contract worth an initial €0.8m per season.

Henry turns 27 next month and joined Oud-Heverlee Leuven in January 2019 for just €0.5m, so this represents a big profit for the club.

The French striker scored 21 goals in 31 Jupiler Pro League appearances last season, while so far this term he has already found the net three times in just four games.

Venezia are looking to Belgium for their attacking reinforcements this summer following promotion to Serie A, as they already snapped up David Okereke on loan with option to buy from Club Brugge.
