Venezia could be going for a third American signing from MLS this summer, specifically Philadelphia Union midfielder Jack de Vries.
The Lagunari are back in Serie A after almost 20 years and have been investing heavily on the transfer market thanks to their American owners.
They’ve already brought in Tanner Tessman from FC Dallas and Gianluca Busio from Sporting KC.
Now the Gazzetta dello Sport suggest Venezia’s next target is 19-year-old Philadelphia Union right-sided midfielder De Vries.
It follows reports from Brian Sciaretta of an imminent deal.
He has been out of action since pre-season after suffering a concussion.
Crucially for a Serie A club, De Vries has an EU passport, as his father is former Dutch player Raimo de Vries.
Unlike Tessmann and Busio, this would likely be a loan move to Venezia and not a permanent sale.
He has one goal in six caps for the United States at Under-17 level.
