Udinese Coach Julio Velazquez warns today’s Coppa Italia debut against Benevento “will be very difficult, but it’s important to start on the right foot.”

The Friulani host the one-off Round 3 match at 19.00 UK time and the winners go on to face either Empoli or Cittadella.

“It’s our first official game of the season and it will be very difficult, as Benevento are very strong by Serie B standards, but it’s important to start on the right foot,” said Velazquez in his Press conference.

“Benevento have players of real experience and like to play ball to feet. I saw a few of their games this summer and was impressed.

“We’ll try to put into practice everything we tried out in training and I am happy with our progress so far. Of course we can improve, but will give 100 per cent against Benevento.

“Our objective is to play the ball to feet, that is the philosophy I want to put forward this season. We are positive and optimistic.”

Jens Stryger-Larsen is in the squad, but Valon Behrami isn’t fully fit yet after taking part in the World Cup with Switzerland.

Udinese squad for Benevento: Gasparini, Nicolas, Scuffet; Ali Adnan, Nuytinck, Opoku, Pezzella, Samir, Stryger-Larsen, Ter Avest, Wague; Balic, Barak, De Paul, Fofana, Mandragora, Micin, Pontiss; Lasagna, Machis, Pussetto, Vizeu
