“We are going out there to win and score more goals than our opponent. That is what we do in every match and Milan are no different,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“I am convinced we can do it, because we trained very well this week with a strong focus and I’m happy with the response from my team.

“Milan have great forwards like Gonzalo Higuain and Suso, but are also strong in defence. We’ve got to work well both on and off the ball, attacking them, but also keeping an eye out for their transitions.

“I trust my team and if we play the way we’ve trained this week, we will certainly win. Milan have a lot of great individual talents, but on a collective level they haven’t performed as well. They lost to Betis, but then won against Sampdoria and Genoa.

“I don’t want to reveal what our plans are, but I will tell you that we know how to hurt Milan and we have very clear ideas on that.”

Bram Nuytinck and Darwin Machis have shaken off injuries to join the squad, but Lukasz Teodorczyk, Giuseppe Pezzella, Emmanuel Badu and Svante Ingelsson are still out of action.

Simone Scuffet is one of the brightest young goalkeeping talents in Italy, but Velazquez has recently benched him in favour of Argentine Juan Musso.

“The decision was made along with my staff. At the start of the season, I said that I’d decide based on training. Scuffet is a lad who is part of the squad and plays when he has done well. The same goes for Musso.

“Of course, there are also different moments within a season that can change the situation. I don’t make decisions to hurt anyone, but for the good of the overall team. I have to focus on what’s best for the collective.”

This week Rodrigo De Paul signed a new contract with Udinese and received another call-up to the Argentina squad.

“I think Rodrigo gives his best performances in a more central role behind the centre-forward. The closer he is to the goal, the more dangerous he becomes. He’s an extraordinary player who can get so much stronger and already adapts well to different situations.”

Udinese squad for Milan: Nicolas, Musso, Scuffet; Troost-Ekong, Nuytinck, Opoku, Samir, Stryger-Larsen, Ter Avest, Wague; Balic, Barak, Behrami, D’Alessandro, De Paul, Fofana, Mandragora, Pontisso; Lasagna, Machis, Micin, Pussetto
