Matias Vecino confirms he ‘did not expect’ to be struggling for playing time at Inter and is looking to move on, potentially in January.

The midfielder is currently on international duty with Uruguay, but can’t seem to get a game at club level.

“I am in a situation at Inter that I did not expect to be in when I spoke to the club and coach at the start of the season,” said Vecino in his press conference.

“Clearly, if this was to continue for much longer, we’d have to talk and find a solution that suits everyone. With all due respect, of course.”

The 30-year-old’s contract only runs to June 2022, so he will be a free agent at the end of the season.

It’s therefore possible his contract could be terminated early so that he’d be released by mutual consent.

Vecino has made only 10 competitive appearances this season between Serie A and the Champions League, for a total 287 minutes of football.

6 thought on “Vecino sends out Inter warning”
  1. I don’t think any inter fan would cry if he left.

Well maybe tears of happiness to finally get rid of him.

  2. I can only hope Marotta manages to cash in a small amount this winter. I cannot believe he survived his contract!

Get him off the books and get Nandez in.

  3. @I MISS JUVENTUS; It doesn’t matter who Inter replaces Vecino with because Simone rarely rotates this team – especially in Champions League Where inter has no wins against Pot A or Pot C teams in the last decade !
