Napoli forward Eduardo Vargas and Roma target Bruno Uvini could both end up at Siena, says Robur sporting director Stefano Antonelli.

Napoli forward Eduardo Vargas and Roma target Bruno Uvini could both end up at Siena, says Robur sporting director Stefano Antonelli.

The Tuscan minnows will start the new season with a six point deduction as punishment for their part in the Calcioscommesse scandal but are showing no lack of ambition on the transfer market.

”Vargas is a great player and he would fit us well,” Antonelli commented, revealing that he has discussed the Chilean with Napoli counterpart Riccardo Bigon. “With Bigon I have talked about Vargas, but he made it clear for me that he needed time to think.”

Vargas – nicknamed 'Turboman' – arrived in Naples in January for €13m. He has been strongly linked with a loan move away from the San Paolo to gain some experience after a disappointing start to his Italian adventure.

Antonelli then went on to speak about Uvini, a central defender with two Brazil caps to his name at the age of 21. The Sao Paulo stopper is of interest to both Roma and Napoli, but should he sign for the latter we may well see him on loan at Stadio Artemio Franchi next term.

“The contacts between Napoli and Siena are true, and if they buy Uvini there may also be negotiations for him.

“I am not sure we would be the ideal partner for this operation, though the Brazilian is surely an important recruitment," Antonelli concluded.
