Como will soon announce the arrival of World Cup winner Raphael Varane as they finalise the details of his free transfer.

The 31-year-old French defender left Manchester United at the start of this month after his contract expired and was quickly enamoured by the project at Como, who are ambitious to prove themselves in Serie A under coach Cesc Fabregas.

Como have already been active in the summer transfer window, signing Andrea Belotti from Roma and picking up experienced shot stopper Pepe Reina. The newly promoted side are backed by the Djarum group, making them one of the wealthiest owners in the league.

TMW details how Como are now in the final stages of finalising the arrival of Varane, sending all the relevant documents to the lawyers to complete the deal. He has agreed to sign a two-year contract, impressed by their ambitions and plans moving forward.

An announcement is expected to arrive in the coming weeks, allowing the 31-year-old to soon start working with Fabregas and his new teammates.
