The VAR problems kept on coming today in Serie A, with reports Monza had their goal against Frosinone awarded via a phone call.

There were some suggestions of technical problems during the first half when referee Maria Sole Ferrieri Caputi stopped play for a couple of minutes and allowed the players to go to their benches for refreshment.

It was hardly the kind of weather to warrant a cooling break in January, but they resumed playing a few minutes later.

According to La Repubblica, the lack of communication with the VAR booth continued and when Monza scored at the 43rd minute, she still could not hear her associates.

Instead, the goal was checked and confirmed via telephone to fourth official Marinelli, who in turn passed on the message to the referee.

The technical problems continued into the second half and there was a statement read out by the speaker to confirm there was no VAR at that moment.

A few minutes later, the issue was resolved and another statement informed the crowd of the situation.
