Leonel Vangioni is “extremely excited” to be joining Milan, and says Paolo Maldini “inspired me”.

The 29-year-old will join the Rossoneri on a free transfer from River Plate, and today made his first visit to Casa Milan, having watched the Coppa Italia final on Sunday.

“I’m extremely excited,” Vangioni told Milan Channel.

“This club has an amazing history and I’m proud to be a part of it. Being part of this club is something I’ve always wanted and I’m very, very happy.

“I’m gradually getting to know Milan. It’s a very beautiful city which makes me feel at ease, and I’ll have a look around it a little bit this week.

“I hope everything goes well and I can do my best for Milan.

“My favourite Diavolo player? There have been so many extraordinary players. Obviously Maldini is well-known, he was a great player and one who inspired me a lot.”

The transfer is not yet official, but will be confirmed when the transfer window opens and the Rossoneri can deposit his contract with the Lega Serie A.
