Marco van Ginkel says he is targeting increased playing time this season, ahead of completing a loan move from Chelsea to Milan.
The 21-year-old touched down in the Italian city late last night and ahead of completing formalities on a season-long loan move to the Rossoneri, sat down with their in-house television service.
“I am very happy, Milan is a great club where many Dutch greats have played, big names,” Van Ginkel began to Milan Channel.
“I am happy to be here at last. I know Nigel de Jong from experiences with the national team, I have spoken to him about Milan and he has told me good things about the club. I have not encountered him here yet, but I will see him soon.
“I am a midfielder who defends, but I can also score goals. I’m a player for all over the pitch. I want to be important for the team, I am a team player. I want to meet mister Inzaghi and like I have said, I am happy to be here.
“I want to play my games, accumulate the minutes, I think at Milan I will have the opportunity to play these games, in a great competition with many strong teams.
“This is the goal of this season. I have not spoken to the Coach, but I have talked with Fernando Torres this week.
“He arrived here and spoke of Milan. He is a good guy and I will soon reencounter him here.”
Fernando Torres, having just completed a loan deal between the same two clubs and in the same direction, is credited with convincing Van Ginkel to accept the move.
