Netherlands boss Louis Van Gaal has revealed that he tried to sign Arturo Vidal for Bayern Munich in 2011.

Holland are preparing to face Chile in the World Cup this summer, and the Coach has admitted that when Vidal was at Bayer Leverkusen the midfielder had the choice of the Bavarian side or the Bianconeri.

“Chile have very dangerous players,” he told reporters. “I always wanted to buy Vidal when he was at Bayer Leverkusen but he went to Juventus” data-scaytid=”7″>Juventus.

“I like a lot of Chile players and they always play an attacking style. It will be difficult for the Netherlands but we have confidence in the three games we have to play.”

Van Gaal will be in charge of Manchester United next season, who have been heavily linked with a switch for the 27-year-old.
