The 20-year-old Guinea-Bassau-born midfielder, also known as Sana, signed for the Serie B club this week after leaving Valladolid of his own volition last winter. This came just months after he had penned a three-year deal with El Pucela following his arrival in Spain from Benfica.
Camara, who has been capped at youth level by Portugal, justified his departure from Valladolid by claiming he had not been paid and felt trapped at the club, having previously missed training on numerous occasions.
However, Valladolid major shareholder and President Carlos Suarez denies the allegations and is seeking compensation for the player.
“This matter has now been turned over to our solicitor Juan de Dios Crespo,” Suarez was quoted as saying in Marca.
“We are claiming damages as the player is still under contract with Valladolid and this will extend to Bari because of his rescission clause.”
Challenged over accusations there had also been complaints from other players that they had not been paid, Suarez was unmoved.
“Have we ever been relegated because of non-payment?” he asked.
“Well this year will be like any other because there are always complaints. It is part of football and part of summer.”
