Fiorentina’s Borja Valero has accused referee Andrea Gervasoni of showing a lack of respect to his professional and personal integrity.
Gervasoni chose to send off the Spaniard during the Viola’s draw with Parma and his match report is said to have been key in bringing about a four match ban for Valero.
“I want to say that everything that happened in Parma saddened me,” Valero said at a Press-conference ahead of Fiorentina’s Europa League game with Esbjerg.
“I am disappointed with the system.
“What the referee wrote after the match shows a lack of respect to my integrity as a person and a player.
“I did nothing to deserve getting sent off, all I was doing was separating two players who were quarrelling and it was me who got sent off!
“Never in my life have I done anything against the referee.
“Everything that Gervasoni said was lies.
“I had to explain to a four year old boy why I was sent off and I didn’t know what to say!
“I have only ever been sent off once in my career and then I was banned for two games.
“I don’t think the images from Parma leave any doubt about it.”
