According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, referee Paolo Valeri will be suspended for the next Serie A round as punishment for his errors during Fiorentina’s 4-3 defeat to Inter.

The official had already been in the headlines earlier this week after confessing he made a big mistake in August’s 1-1 draw between Atalanta and Milan.

He was the VAR that day and did not recommend an on-field review when Hans Hateboer was booked for lunging into Rafael Leao, later admitting it should’ve been a red card.

Valeri was on the pitch last night at the Stadio Artemio Franchi and several incidents caused controversy, but above all his decision not to give even a yellow card to Federico Dimarco for the knee-high tackle on Giacomo Bonaventura.

It was particularly inexplicable because Valeri did have an on-field review in order to award a penalty, but didn’t give a yellow card, let alone the expected red.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the refereeing designator has evaluated Valeri’s performance and decided to suspend him for the next Serie A round.

These things are never announced formally, an official is simply not in the list for the next set of games.

  1. Wait, this guy doesn’t send off someone against AC milan so they continue play vs 10 men Atalanta and he does the opposite to Inter, KEEPING them 11vs11 against Fiorentina who should be with 1 extra player.

    Make that make sense.

The outcomes are making it even WORSE , bevause Milan drew and INTER got to WIN .

I like Inter, I love Simone, I am a Laziale but this is truly a disgrace. Enough is enough !

  2. Inter, on balance, have benefitted from refereeing favoritism for a few years now, and from certain referees (Valeri one of them) more than others. Some key decisions like the penalty on Belotti last year and this match in general are beyond suspicious. One must either be blind or corrupt to miss certain actions.

Looks to me as if the Marotta rumors are true.

  3. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It’s not time for the Milanistas to speak out. Rest well Valeri during weekend

  4. Leave him alone, his inter scarf wafted in front of his view so he didn’t see the incidents.

  5. It’s always time for ANYONE to speak out against corruption, Godey.
Unless you support the team who are corrupting the league.
Milan won last years Scudetto despite all the calls in favor of Inter last season, so why can’t they speak out?

  6. @Ando: what are you sniffing mate? Did you already forget about Giroud fould on Sanchez that resulted in the goal? Not to mention the other incidents!!!

  7. Milan Fan

You are a delusional liar. Inter were robbed the Scudetto not only last season but in 2020. In 20-21 Inter won it comfortably with a huge point gap despite Milan receiving 400 soft penalties that season.

  8. I recall in 19-20 Valeri awarded Verona a pk against Inter at San Siro after a Zaccagni dive. But of course the ignorant, biased Inter haters don’t care about such facts…
