Negotiations between Napoli and Valencia have started and the Spanish side have submitted their first offer for Matteo Politano.
The 28-year-old Italian winger is hoping to leave the Partenopei this summer after failing to gel well in Luciano Spalletti’s system. He’s already handed in a transfer request and he was fined by the club after giving an unauthorised interview where he hinted towards a departure.
As reported by La Repubblica, Valencia have offered Napoli €10m plus add-ons for Politano, who is contracted to the Campania side until 2024. This is a good starting point for the negotiations, although further talks will be needed as the Partenopei value the 28-year-old at around €18m.
Politano made 39 appearances across all competitions last season under Spalletti, for a total of 1906 minutes. In that time, he scored five goals and provided seven assists, but he never looked particularly convincing under Spalletti.
