Italian tactician Gennaro Gattuso is ready to resume his coaching career with a new role in LaLiga at Valencia, announced the club.

According to Marca, Diario Sport and others in Spain, the crunch meeting is going to take place today in Singapore, and that was also confirmed by the club’s official radio station this afternoon.

Gattuso and agent Jorge Mendes have travelled to Singapore to meet with Valencia’s largest shareholder, Peter Lim, and they should sign the contract for at least two seasons.

Jose Bordalas will be dismissed after failing to qualify for Europe, finishing a desperately disappointing ninth in LaLiga this season.

They did reach the Copa del Rey Final, losing on penalties to Real Betis.

As for 44-year-old Gattuso, his management career has been somewhat tempestuous.

He lasted from November 2017 to May 2019 at Milan, the club where he spent most of his playing career, and then took over Napoli from Carlo Ancelotti in December 2019 only to part company with them in the summer of 2021.

Gattuso signed for Fiorentina, but that lasted barely two weeks before they decided by mutual consent that it was not going to work.

It was reportedly because Gattuso had certain demands on the transfer market that were for players represented by his own agent, Jorge Mendes.
